Creative Playground

This is scrapbook designer, Donna Downey... Once a month this newsletter is sent out... you can click here to sign up. In each "issue" it gives a challenge. Then the following month she posts some of her favorites. Last month was Shopping Tags-- you had to use your shopping tags in layouts, mini books, etc. I took the challenge and made a CHA book using all the clothing tags we collected over the course of the month. I was so excited to see I was part of her selection!! Here is some of the book. (stay tuned for next month, I will try and do the challenge again-- this time uses old books)

The month before was using trash. You had to use things you would usually throw away or recycle. I made a 12X12 inch page, but chickened out in sending it in... here is that page. I know I am a dork, what do you have to lose by e-mailing?? I learned, if I make something I will send it in!! I used a paper grocery sack, cardboard box, screen, toilet paper rolls & plastic sacks. The quote on the page says "The history of our grandparents is remembered not with rose petals but in the laughter and tears of their children and their children's children. It is into that the lives of grandparents have gone. It is in us that their history becomes a future."

Thanks for looking :) I will try to post more of my scrapworks.

Rivers, museums, parks, dogs and more....

This morning we headed off to Dubuque, Iowa to meet Becky, Levi & Patty. Our first stop was the Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. I have to admit I wasn't excited about it... but to my suprise it was nice. We had a great time seeing HUGE catfish, alligators, sting rays, and lots of other fish and wild life that live in the Mississippi River (not just in IA and IL). They also had boats to tour, a train museum, and and lots more! Never thought I would say this... but we might have to go back :)

Next stop was the park. We went and let the kids play to burn off some energy. They had fun playing pirates in the boat like playground. We even caught the ice cream man for a little treat. We finished up the park with a picnic (in the back end of Patty's SUV).

Finally, our night came to an end with the Dog Races. Hallie has been asking to go to dog races all summer! A lady down the street has 5 greyhounds that she walks everyday... so Hallie got the idea to go to the races :) It was lots of fun to watch.

Thanks for the fun day guys! We'll have to meet again!

A Day on the Go-- updated with new pictures

We had a fun day Wednesday! We started off going to "Bookworm". It is a free movie for kids at the theater in exchange for a book report. So Hallie colored a two-page report on Clifford. We'll try and go again next week :)
Next, we were off to Old Navy (for returns) and then to Michael's (Crafts) I just had a few things to get... but hit the jackpot!! I found the $1 wooden "paper" dolls I had been looking for, some fun stuff for the girls in the $1 bins and the spray I needed to make my own rub-ons (to my non-craft friends I know you are just reading blah-blah-blah, but I will post pics when I get them done!!)
After that adventure we were off to the Garner's (Kim's). We packed up the kids and went to lunch at Sonic!- YUM!! Then, we spent the rest of the afternoon talking scrap, chasing frogs, and having a fun day. (Kim has the rest of the cute frog pictures on her camera, I will post them when I get them from her!)- hint, hint Kim
Today I have to work, so J-Dubb (that's a Best Buy name for Jessica Weber) is going to come and stay with the girls. I'll report any adventures tomorrow.

Here are the rest of the pictures from Kim- Thanks! (Poor Hallie was borrowing a pair of capris that were a bit too small-- you'll see :)

Here is a video of Hallie catching one.
