I have been bothered all week about the Elementary situation for Hallie. The school we are zoned for is.... ummmmm... {nice way to say this????} NOT GOOD. (there are several non-English speaking students who require more help and slower learning... therefore slowing down the whole class) In our city, you can not "open enroll" to an Elem. school... you must go to the school you are assigned. However, we have a "choice" school. This school has a year round calendar, a bit different learning style, and again... I was apprehensive about it.
Today we went to take the tour...we took one step into the office and Hallie thought she just walked into heaven!! There was a RABBIT, loose, litter trained and on the go. He is very playful and friendly. For those of you who know my Hallie, you know she is the BIGGEST animal lover!! They have kids help feed the rabbit and give treats and all that.
The principle was so proud of her school. You could tell by the way she spoke of her students, teachers, and facility. She took us on a tour (which lasted about an hour) Hallie did a project with one of the classes, she visited every room, and was smiling the whole time.
It felt like a very welcoming and warm school. The principle knew all the kids' names, and a little about each. The students seemed happy and eager to learn. They were very excited to tell us what they were learning about.
After we left we had an answer. Hallie felt comfortable and confident going to kindergarten... and I took in a sigh of relief.

6 friends had to say...:
Just sent ya an email... :)
We went to many a kindergarten round-up for a couple years. Looking at your options is not a bad thing. :)
Good deal, you are all set for the fall, Hallie in Kindergarden, Reese in preschool, which will give you some 1 on 1 time with Piper
WOW! Shes in Kindergarten!!! I can't believe it...but this school sounds awesome! I want to work there :)
I am sure that is a good feeling to have that finalized, as I don't know what that feels like to have to "chose" a school, we only have 1! Sounds like a good choice!
That's great news! Makes such a difference to know you are sending your kids to the best possible school you can!
Sounds like a great school for Hallie!
My Sean is starting kindergarten in September and I hope he can get in the school we are zoned for (it's not a given, can you believe that?!) Keep your fingers crossed for us!
